| Local IEEE members have been discussing formation of a local chapter of
the IEEE Engineering Management Society in the Twin Cities Section
for several years.
In January 2001, Greg Burk and Phyllis Brown attended the IEEE Twin
Cities Section Officers training with the express purpose of forming a
local chapter of the Engineering Management Society. In the months
following the training, both worked hard to gather the requisite
number(12) of signatures on a petition to form the local
chapter.
On May 1, 2001 the Chair of the Twin Cities Section of the IEEE, Ben
Manning, was presented a petition to form a local chapter of the
Engineering Management Society. The Section executive committee and
Chair approved this petition and forwarded it to IEEE.
In early June 2001, notice
was received from IEEE that the Twin Cities chapter of the IEEE Engineering
Management Society had been officially formed on June 1, 2001.
The website and majordomo mailing lists were established in early June
2001.
An organizational/informational meeting was held on July 10,
2001. At that meeting Mike Dauk volunteered to be this years
Nominating Committee Chair.
