About the Topic:

We all negotiate everyday in all aspects of our lives; with family, friends, colleagues and in business transactions.  Are you as good at negotiating as you can be?  Would you like to be better?  Jay Simpson will help you level the playing field and improve your game.  Jay will provide effective and useful information that includes: the 5 stages of a negotiation, the 5 Golden Rules for you to adhere to in all your negotiations and a review of 21 fundamental negotiating games that are regularly played, including suggestions for effective counter-strategies.

About the Speaker:

Jay Simpson is an Attorney and Business Law Specialist who has been providing legal and business advice, counsel and services to consultants, entrepreneurs and businesses since 1985.  Jay is a graduate of St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN with a B.A. in Economics and received his law degree (Doctor of Jurisprudence) from Drake University Law School in Des Moines, IA.  As a solo practitioner, he works with businesses in areas such as business formation and selection (i.e. C-corporations, Sub-S corporations, Limited Liability Companies), strategic/succession planning, review and negotiation of contracts and agreements, employment matters, lease agreements, licensing, document handling and retention, legal audits and litigation management.  He also works with individuals regarding their business related matters.  During his 15 years as an in-house attorney with several Twin Cities companies and as the former General Counsel for Zeos International, Ltd. ( a pc manufacturer), Jay has acquired considerable expertise in working with decision makers regarding issues in today’s marketplace.  He is a frequent speaker on a variety of subjects such as contract formation and terminology, effective negotiations and starting a business.

Location: 

The meeting will be held in Room 41 at Dunwoody Institute at 818 Dunwoody Boulevard in Minneapolis. Park in the student parking lot across the driveway from the Institute, not the visitor spaces immediately next to the building. You will need to sign in at the front door and get a badge. Although not absolutely necessary, Dunwoody has asked that we get a list  of attendees to them ahead of time (and we need to know how much food to bring) so please pre-register if you can.

Cost:

Free for both members and non-members.  Pizza and Pop will be provided!!!
