| The Twin Cities IEEE Engineering
Management Society Invites You to Attend:
Technology Roadmapping: What is it and why do I care?
Ben
Manning Manager of Strategic Technologies
Lockheed-Martin Tactical Systems
September 25, 2003
6:00pm until 8:30pm
Lockheed Martin
3333 Pilot Knob Road, Eagan, MN
About the Topic:
Technology
roadmapping is emerging as the primary means of communicating the
complexities of technology planning between cross-functional communities.
Countries use it to plan geographic locations for industry, companies use
it to plan product developments or strategic partnering, suppliers use a
simple form to show us where their product families are heading, and even
the US government is promoting the "Roadmap for Peace" in the
Middle East.
This talk will focus on the approach developed by Rob Phaal and his
colleagues at Cambridge University, England. The Cambridge group
have developed what they call the T-Plan Fast Start approach to technology
roadmapping, which involves a series of short workshops to develop the key
information sets and combine them into the roadmap. The talk will
also address the state of the marketplace in terms of technology
roadmapping tools and who is using them.
If
you are interested in how to manage relationships between your business
goals, key technologies, and the marketplace over time you will find this
topic of major interest. If not, just check it out to keep abreast
of evolving techniques in the engineering management arena.
