Meetings/Events

The Twin Cities IEEE Engineering Management Society invites you to attend a presentation:

XP (XTREME PROGRAMMING), SCRUM, AGILE

What's All the Hype?

Kyle R. Larson
Advanced Technologies Integration

Thursday, November 18, 2004
6:30pm to 8:30pm

J. Gordon Electronic Design
500 73rd Street NE, Suite 105, Minneapolis, MN

About the Speaker:

Kyle R. Larson works for Advanced Technologies Integration (www.atico.com) where he helps software development teams leverage agile best-practices to deliver business value better and faster.  He has personally led teams using Agile processes on six projects over the past five years.  Kyle mentors and teaches agile development methods, is a certified Scrum master, and is the founder and facilitator of the Twin Cities Agile Experience Group (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Agile_Experience_Group).

About the Topic:

Most software development projects fail to deliver promised functionality on time and within budget.  Extreme Programming (XP) and Scrum are popular, complimentary "agile" approaches that address this problem.  Scrum is a project management approach used for defining and managing projects in general.  XP is a self-reinforcing set of best practices for software development teams.

This presentation will cover:

        *  The Agile movement; what it is and how it started

        *  Scrum; an approach to project and team management

        *  XP; its values and practices

        *  Agile going forward; a practitioner's view

        *  Ways to get started -- and ways not to get started

Location:

The meeting will held at the offices of J. Gordon Electronic Design at 500 73rd Avenue NE, Suite 105, Minneapolis, MN

Directions from I694:
